November Educator Self-Care

Congratulations! You have made it to November. There may have been days that you didn't know if you would make it, but here you are! Now the holidays are fast approaching. That means a short break from your educational duties, which sounds like a vacation, but the holiday stress is fast approaching! Cooking, shopping, family visits, decorating, all will soon take over our minds and our worlds. Don't forget to take some time during the Thanksgiving holidays to actually relax, and do something you enjoy. You deserve it! Remember all of the blessings you have and the things to be thankful for. This can be done by a gratitude journal, a list in your planner, sticky notes on your mirror, or just a mental note each night. Writing it down and making it tangible, forces you to think about those "feel good" moments in your life. Thinking of what you have, versus what you do not, can re-frame your thinking and put you in a positive state of mind. Positive thoughts become positive feelings, which in turn, become positive actions. This positive attitude can help you start to make those changes to reach your goals, both personal and professional. Remember when the days get hard, and you feel like giving up, no one ever injured their eyesight by looking on the bright side!
